Thing 18 would be ideal for students and people like myself , that have forgotten how th set up a spreadsheet. You could imput the data and don't have to spend alot of time setting up the sheet. This would be very time saving, when someone has a deadline. This would be a great tool for anyone that can use it. Having it on the library computers or having staff know how to find this would be a great help to some of our patrons.
I feel the best thing about Wiki , would be for book clubs. I feel they would have the most benifit from this service. They could review and post their discussions, which would inform others of how well the book was or not. I'm sure the program would not be limited to just book clubs, but that was the best usage I could find for it. I'm sure it would be much used in the community activities also.
I just read the Library 2.0 and while I agree with some of the findings, I don't agree with them all. For patrons that use the computer alot, this will be a big thing for them, but we have to realize that not all our patrons are that computer savy. We also need to realize that most of the patrons we serve, come into the library for the human contact the get from the staff. They can't get that from a computer. Our library does some of the things suggested in the story, but I feel that when you move away from personal contact with your patron, then they will quit using the library as often.
